2016 DEC UPDATE Hello Clients and Friends! So, I’m skipping the November newsletter and moving onto December, due to a busy month! So, thanks for that! Thank you for another great year. I only have you to thank! I look forward to seeing you all next year. Also, thanks to those who referred the last two months: Vicky Smith, Nadia Ingratta, Michelle Prince, Rachelle Friis, John Brown and Heather Loree! The winner for the October Review Draw is Deborah Bonfiglio! The winner for November is Sassy Dawe! Thank you to those who posted reviews! Remember to take some time off over the holidays and spend some time with those you love. Merry Christmas! Renée Carpet and Furniture Soil- Prevention for the Holidays Leave a basket by the door full of slippers, so your guests are welcome to remove their shoes and replace them with slippers. Also, leave a sign nearby saying “Please take off your shoes and wear slippers instead”. Place extra mats at doorways for the extra traffic. Vacuum the entrances regularly, so the dirt doesn’t get tracked into the rest of the house. Place covers on your furniture if you’re expecting young children to be eating or drinking around them. Also, if you’re expecting pets that may go on the furniture. If there is a new pet coming into the house, don’t leave them unattended, in case they feel the need to mark your house or are not fully trained. Provide trays or extra tables for people to put their drinks or plates on. Roll up your nice area rugs, so you don’t have to worry about the extra foot traffic or spills. Keep a bottle of Proxi on hand to easily clean up any food, drink or pet messes that may occur. Referrals & Rewards Refer a friend and receive a $15 Tim’s or gas card when they have a cleaning done. So, thanks again to my Foam Frenzy clients who booked appointments in September and to those who referred: Tammy Reid, Jane Baldwin and Joanne from Belle River Co-op. Finally, a winner for the Review Draw this month! Thanks Yvette Jackson for posting a review. Happy Halloween and don’t forget to have some fun! Renée Spot Cleaning Tips 1. Urine stains Surface cleaning with a normal cleaner won’t work. You need to pour it, so it gets into the carpet backing or cushion foam. You also need to use a cleaner that will eat up the urine. It needs enzymes to break down the urine stain and smell. More volume = more cleaner. If you have a large dog that peed, then you need to pour more cleaner into the carpet, than for a small dog. 2. Water marks If your upholstered furniture leaves water marks when you clean it, there’s a couple things you can do to help prevent it: Use less moisture when cleaning and rinsing. Try to feather out the moisture on the edges of the spot you have cleaned. Evenly wet the entire area of the cushion so it won’t leave a water mark. If you need help, call Foam Frenzy! It does remind me that the cold weather is coming in the near future, so I’m trying to enjoy the outdoors as much as I can. Thanks again to my Foam Frenzy clients who booked appointments in August. Also a big thanks to those who referred: Brian Cornies and Tom Brown! There wasn’t any reviews posted in September, so there isn’t a winner! Maybe next month 🙂 Have a great September—what’s left of it anyway 🙂 Renée Carpet and Upholstery Cleaning Myths Steam cleaning is the most thorough type of cleaning you can use. In reality, the job is usually quick and the carpet and backing gets really wet. Regular cleaning will remove pet-related stains and smells. You need to use a cleaner that will eat up the stain and odor or you will just be spreading it around during a regular cleaning. This makes it even harder to get them out later. Any stain that is food related or hasn’t been there long should be easy to remove. A lot of foods have natural and artificial dyes in them that do just that – dye things! Knowing what the stain is will help determine how easy it is to remove. Cotton and other natural materials are best for stain resistance. They can resist stains well, but when they let them into the material, they are usually impossible to get out. You should wait to clean your carpet the first time because it will never be the same. Everything needs maintenance on a regular basis. If you wait too long, you won’t be able to get it looking the same. The Monthly Review Draw winner is Mary Telega! Talk to you soon! Renée @ FoamFrenzy.com How to Reduce Static in Your Home. Static electricity is the buildup of electrical charges on the surface of non-conducting materials, such as carpet, fabric or yourself. You pick up electrons when you walk on the carpet or sit in a chair. Static typically forms when two materials come into contact, and some of the charges redistribute by moving from one material to the other. This is what happens when you touch a metal door knob and get a shock. The electrons move from your body to the handle. Static on carpet can also attract dirt to stick to it. You can reduce static charges by adding moisture. Humidifiers help in the winter, but you can also add plants to the house. Anti-static sprays can be added to your carpet or upholstery, but will probably leave a residue and attract dirt. Some carpets are made with anti-static agents. For a quick fix, you can rub a dryer sheet to the area with static. If you wear shoes in the house, shoes with leather soles can reduce static as well.
