Urine stains Surface cleaning with a normal cleaner won’t work. You need to pour it, so it gets into the carpet backing or cushion foam. You also need to use a cleaner that will eat up the urine. It needs enzymes to break down the urine stain and smell. More volume = more cleaner. If you have a large dog that peed, then you need to pour more cleaner into the carpet, than for a small dog. 2. Water marks If your upholstered furniture leaves water marks when you clean it, there’s a couple things you can do to help prevent it: Use less moisture when cleaning and rinsing. Try to feather out the moisture on the edges of the spot you have cleaned. Evenly wet the entire area of the cushion so it won’t leave a water mark. If you need help, call Foam Frenzy! In reality, the job is usually quick and the carpet and backing gets really wet. Regular cleaning will remove pet-related stains and smells. You need to use a cleaner that will eat up the stain and odor or you will just be spreading it around during a regular cleaning. This makes it even harder to get them out later. Any stain that is food related or hasn’t been there long should be easy to remove. A lot of foods have natural and artificial dyes in them that do just that – dye things! Knowing what the stain is will help determine how easy it is to remove. Cotton and other natural materials are best for stain resistance. They can resist stains well, but when they let them into the material, they are usually impossible to get out. You should wait to clean your carpet the first time because it will never be the same. Remove Common Baby Stains from your Carpet – How-to-Guide 1. Baby poop carpet stain removal One of the most common dirt and stains to remove from carpets is the baby poop. You will need to clean the mess and remove the smell as well. What to use: Liquid soap 2 cups warm water 1 tablespoon white vinegar Sponge Cloth What to do: If the poop is dropped on the carpet, be careful in scooping it out without spreading its dirt on the carpet. In a bowl, mix the water, vinegar, and the liquid soap. Use the sponge to clean the stained area. Use the clean dry cloth to absorb the liquid and wetness from the carpet. Repeat this process if needed, or there are still some dirt and stains to remove. For stubborn stains caused by the baby poop, the said formula can be added with a drop of hydrogen peroxide together with a drop of ammonia. This is a powerful solution for stain removal from carpets. 2. Baby urine carpet cleaning Baby urine will not leave stains on the carpet but a foul odor that may need extreme carpet cleaning. What to use: Vinegar Water Towel What to do: Your first task is to take away the urine from the carpet so that it will not sink deeper into its fabric. You can do it by simply blotting out the wetness using towel. For the cleaning or treatment solution, mix the water and vinegar of equal portion in a cup or bowl. With a sponge, clean the area and wash the urine away. To take off the wetness from the carpet, blot the area with the towel and let it dry. In case the urine dried up already, add the solution with a drop of liquid soap and sponge the affected area to remove the urine and the stains. Dry it afterwards with a cloth or towel. 3. Baby vomit carpet cleaning Baby tends to vomit after mealtime. Even if you have that cloth always ready on your shoulder, the vomit may still drop down on the carpet. To prevent the vomit from staining the carpet, you will need to clean it away immediately. What to use: Vacuum cleaner Spoon Baking Soda White Vinegar Liquid soap Sponge Towel What to do: If there is vomit left on the carpet, scrape it off without spreading the mess on the surface. Static electricity is the buildup of electrical charges on the surface of non-conducting materials, such as carpet, fabric or yourself. You pick up electrons when you walk on the carpet or sit in a chair. Static typically forms when two materials come into contact, and some of the charges redistribute by moving from one material to the other. This is what happens when you touch a metal door knob and get a shock. The electrons move from your body to the handle. Static on carpet can also attract dirt to stick to it. You can reduce static charges by adding moisture. Humidifiers help in the winter, but you can also add plants to the house.
